Jameela has claimed that she was working as a teacher before she was discovered by a producer who suggested that she should audition to be a presenter. She began her career as a TV presenter for Channel 4 in 2008 and in 2009 she became a co host for a morning TV show called Freshly squeezed.
In 2010 she hosted a show called The Closet. She regularly wrote columns for a women’s magazine called Company from 2011-2014. In 2012 she became a host for a reality television show called Playing It Straight. In 2012 she became the first female presenter of a British Radio Chart Show.
In 2016 she moved to Los Angeles and was working as a writer when somebody told her that the director of a famous American sitcom called ‘Parks and Recreation’ was looking for a British actress. She got the role in 2016 for a sitcom called ‘The Good Place’.
She played the role if Tahani Al Jameel on the show and her character and acting were highly admired.
She lent her voice to one of the characters in a television series called Duck Tales. She even hosted a segment on a television show called Last Call with Carson Daly. In 2019 she became the host of a celebrity game show called The Misery Index.
