$45 Million
Uma Thurman popularly known as Uma Karuna Thurman is an American actress, fashion model and producer. As of 2023, Uma Thurman’s net worth is $45 million. For the young Thurman, pretending to be someone other than herself came naturally, and her single successful extracurricular activity was acting in school plays.
The 15-year-old Thurman followed her passion for acting and modeling (including a Glamour Magazine spread) to New York City, where she completed her high school education and began her search for acting gigs. There were a few formulaic and forgettable Hollywood productions, but then came Terry Gilliam’s The Adventure of Baron Munchausen (1988) and Stephen Frears’ Dangerous Liaisons (1988), which brought much attention to her unique sensuality and performances that intriguingly combined innocence with worldliness. In an instant, the strange, gangly girl had become a sex symbol.
Henry & June (1990) was the first film to obtain the NC-17 classification in the United States, and Thurman’s smoldering, startlingly mature performance as June, Henry Miller’s wife, was the least monetarily successful but most well-known. Thurman’s career took a turn for the worst in the early ’90s when he appeared in terrible films like Mad Dog and Glory (1993).
Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1993) was her first leading role, and it was a critical and commercial flop, despite the fact that it was a cult-favorite novel. Thurman was nominated for an Academy Award for Pulp Fiction (1994) for her portrayal of Mia Wallace, the most unorthodox of all gangster’s molls, the character for which she garnered an Academy Award nomination.
Since then, Thurman has had a variety of roles, from supporting parts in films like Beautiful Girls (1996) and The Truth About Cats & Dogs (1997) to starring roles in arty independents like A Month by the Lake (1995). (1996). After starring as the villainous Poison Ivy in the infamous Joel Schumacher picture Batman & Robin (1997) and as Emma Peel in the Avengers adaptation, Thurman returned to lesser projects (1998).
Her film credits include Sweet and Lowdown (1999), in which she collaborated with Woody Allen and Sean Penn, as well as the drama Tape (2001), in which she acted alongside Ethan Hawke. Hysterical Blindness (2002), directed by Mira Nair, awarded Thurman a Golden Globe for her performance.
