Beyoncé started her career as a lead vocalist of the R&B group ‘’Destiny’s Child’’. She started her career alongside her childhood friend Kelly Rowland. They both were placed in a group with 3 other girls called ‘’Girl’s Tyme’. They did a talent show circuit in Houston dancing and rapping as well.


Arne Frager, the producer of R&B saw this and brought them to ‘Star Search’ which was the biggest talent show on national television of that time by Northern California Studio. However, they didn’t perform well and hence failed. The girls later auditioned and were selected for Elektra Records and then moving to Atlanta Records.

On 5 October 1995, the group was signed by Dwayne Wiggins’s Grass Root Entertainment. Later the group signed a contract with Columbia Records. In 1996, the group ‘’Girl’s Tyme’’ changed their name to ‘’Destiny’s Child’’ based upon a passage in the book Isaiah.
